Introduction

RICARIMPEX, whose origins date back to 1845, is the only French company to specialise in the breeding and marketing of medicinal leeches (Hirudo medicinalis).
ISO 9001-certified (version 2008), RICARIMPEX, which is based in the Gironde region of Western France, is also the only company to have been given accreditation by US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to sell medicinal leeches as a medical device in the United States.

Moscow International Medical Leech Centre : Through this partnership, RICARIMPEX developed its first laboratory breeding trials. The centre’s director, Prof. Guennady NIKONOV is a company shareholder and is a member of the scientific board of the Fédération Internationale pour la Protection et la Promotion de la Sangsue médicinale (International Federation for the Protection and Promotion of Medical Leeches).

Innovapharma/Nutriex : exclusive distributor for Brazil.

Centre Jean ROSTAND : RICARIMPEX operates its second production site in partnership with the Centre, whose director, Pierre DARRE, is also a company shareholder.

Laboratoire de Neuroimmunologie et Neurochimie des Annélides (Annelid Neuro-immunology and Neurochemistry Laboratory) in Lille : RICARIMPEX works closely with Michel SALZET’s team in the field of research and development.
